Chirnside travelled through to Gala on Tuesday night to take on Rovers looking for their first points of the season following Saturdays disappointing home defeat to Hawick Waverley.

The away team were missing Young, Blaikie and Strachan from the weekend fixture but welcomed back Morrison, Stobie and Turner to the starting line-up. It was Gala who made all the early headway looking particularly dangerous out wide and up front. Chirnside appeared lethargic from the off and it was no surprise to see Rovers take the lead after 10 minutes when the Striker back flicked the ball past J. Cowe after a cross from the right.

This appeared to wake the away team up and five minutes later they were awarded a penalty when Lauder was upended after indecision in the home defence. Turner made no mistake from the spot sending the keeper the wrong way.

After the goal though Chirnside went out the game again and were caught out on several occasions ball watching and not tracking back. Gala regained their lead on the half hour mark when the other Striker ran almost half the length of the park and shot past Cowe at his near post. The home team created a few more chances to add to their lead but Cowe in goal and a few defensive blocks kept the half-time scoreline at 2-1.

After a stern talking to by manager Blaikie at half-time the away team started off the second half far brighter and could have been awarded another penalty in the first minute of the half but Lauder stayed on his feet after it appeared he'd been clipped by the keeper.

The away team were now playing a lot better and Turner could have made it 2-2 but when put clean through a bad bobble stopped him from getting any decent contact on the ball and it dribbled through to the relieved keeper. Chirnside were then hit with a hammer blow on the hour mark when P.Cowe's attempted clearance took a lucky ricochet off the Striker and he ran through one on one and slotted home with ease.

Chirnside had chances to score again but Lauder's effort was cleared off the line and Windram's left foot drive went just inches wide. With no game this Saturday Chirnside will be looking to Tuesdays game with West Barns to register their first points of the season.
