Report

Chirnside bounced back after the midweek defeat to Duns with a convincing win over Gala Rovers at Comrades Park.

The away team started the slightly brighter of the teams and put some early pressure on the backline of the homeside. Chirnside gradually eased into the game and started to push Gala back as they squeezed the game. The men in green took the lead on the 20 minute mark when the ball was played into Armstrong’s feet in the box and he managed chip the ball up and execute a bicycle kick into the net. It wasn’t long before the homeside went two up when a ball was flighted in by Lauder from the left flank for J.Turner to bundle over the line from close range.

Gala had a great chance to pull on back but the centre half who was up for a corner put the ball past the post from close range.

HT 2-0

The second half began with Gala looking to try and come more into the game and the got their rewards when some slack play by Chirnside while in attack led to a misplaced pass and Gala broke up the pitch and scored from a tight angle from the left.

This kick started Chirnside into action again and it wasn’t long before they re-gained their two goal cushion when a good ball from Young sent Armstrong through on goal to bag his second of the game. The remaining three goals for the homeside were not long in coming with A.Turner scoring a good goal after some good work by Windram down the right. A.Turner then got on the score sheet again when a good flick by J.Turner put him clean through on goal to coolly slot the ball past the on rushing keeper.

J.Turner finally completed the scoring after rifling the ball home from just inside the box.
