Chirnside failed in their attempt to get one over on local rivals Duns on a blustery Tuesday night at Comrades Park where chances proved to be few and far between.

The game started on a pretty even keel with neither team committing too much to the attack in the early exchanges with only tackles flying in the only thing of note in the first ten minutes. Duns soon began to get on top with their superior possession but as per the previous two encounters found chances hard to come by as the Chirnside defended solidly.

Duns began to try their luck from long range but saw most of their efforts go high and wide. Chirnside continued to defend well and tried to mount some attacks of their own on the counter but they also found any clear cut chances hard to come by.

Duns tried to finish half on a flurry but again ended up passing the ball across the last third of the pitch like a crab scurrying across the beach as Chirnside put up the barricades.

HT 0-0

Chirnside began the half in confident mood that they could use the slight tail wind to their advantage and immediately went on the attack. However the homeside struggled to get bodies into the box and saw numerous crosses in the first 10 minutes of the half easily cleared up by the Duns defence.

Duns then got their foot back into the game and tried to pin Chirnside back in there own half but again they came up a stubborn wall of green with only one long range effort of note scimming the crossbar on the way over from long range.

On the 70th minute Chirnside had the first clear cut chance of the game when a good flick from Windram saw Kelly through on goal but from a tight angle he saw his shot drift past the post.

Duns then got the goal they were looking for on the 75th minute when a mix up in the Chirnside defence saw the ball flicked into the box from the Duns back line to their unmarked striker to volley home off the post. Duns soon made it 2 nil when again a cross in from the right was missed by Chirnside and the striker coolly put the ball away past Black in the Chirnside goal.

Chirnside tried to get back into the game but the little pressure they had resulted in nothing.
