This was the second meeting of these two teams in three weeks and as in the first game the outcome was the same with both teams playing out a draw.

With Gordon having most of the possession and indeed most of the chances in the first half of the game, they would have felt a little hard done by going in at half-time a goal down. A goal on the half hour mark from Lauder gave Chirnside the lead after Gordon had dominated for long spells of the half. The away team always looked dangerous from corners and throw-ins but they were unable to capitalise on the chances that came their way.

The home team though could have went in at the break a few goals better off but G Turner scuffed his shot from six yards out and Wood blasted over the bar after being played clean through by Stobie.

The second half kicked off and within two minutes Gordon finally scored when their central midfielder waltzed past two defenders to chip the ball into the back post for the right-sided midfielder to head home leaving Black with no chance.

This finally spurred Chirnside on and they gradually began to pass the ball about looking to A Turner and Windram out wide to provide the service needed for the two strikers. G Kelly came off the bench and made an immediate impact by scoring the home teams second goal with a shot over the Gordon keeper from 12 yards out.

The away team equalised from the penalty spot when Cowe was rather harshly penalised for bringing down the Gordon central midfielder. The big sweeper made no mistake from the spot. Gordon were then lucky to keep ten men on the park when a blatant kick off the ball which was noticed by the referee went unpunished.

With both sides having half chances to score a winner none were taken and the points were shared in the end in what was probably a fair result.
