Chirnside entertained title chasing West Barns on Saturday and knew there had to be a vast improvement from last weekends game against Duns if they were to take anything from this match.

Player Manager Blaikie came back into the team at Sweeper, Strachan started on the Left Wing, Windram was on the Right and A. Turner partnered Lauder up front. The home team started well and were passing the ball about well between the defence and the midfield. The first chance of the game fell to Turner but his shot was easily held by the Keeper. Chirnside then had another chance when Windram's shot from inside the box hit the post and rolled out for a goal kick.

Chirnside were well on top but couldn't make their superiority count. Turner had another good chance when he was put clean through but again the Keeper made the save. The home team were made to regret their missed chances as West Barns hit on the break on the half hour mark. The Right winger found himself unmarked at the back post and he fired past Black from close range. Chirnside had a few more chances before the break but again they couldn't find a way to break down the away defence.

The second half kicked off with the home team again trying to press for the equaliser. Lauder had the first chance of the half but he was denied by the post. A dangerous cross from the right was then put into the West Barns box but the Defender's mistimed clearance went just over the bar.

Windram and Turner had a few more near misses before West Barns got their killer second goal. Their Central Midfielder was allowed a free run through the middle and his through ball looked as though it was going out for a goal-kick but the Striker got there at the last minute to slide in from an acute angle.

Both teams had chances late on as the game opened up but there was to be no more goals. Chirnside know they'll have to start picking up points and fast if they want to avoid getting dragged into the relegation dogfight.
