Chirnside were looking to make it eight wins on the trot as they entertained local rivals Duns at Comrades Park on Saturday.

The away team started off the game quite promisingly with their Left Winger shooting straight at Luggett from 10 yards with the first attack of the game. After five minutes though the deadlock was broken but it was the home side that took the lead when the Duns keeper could only parry a Turner free-kick and Stuart followed up with the rebound.

Chirnside then lost their captain when Morrison was taken off after he took a knock to the ribs. His place on the pitch was taken by Windram with Ponder dropping back into the vacant Midfield slot. Duns equalised on the 20 minute mark when a cross from the right was blocked by Luggett and the Left Wing followed up to tap into an empty goal and despite the protests for offside the referee let the goal stand.

The home team did have chances to regain their lead but poor finishing let them down. However with 10 minutes remaining in the half, Ponder swung in a corner which Turner powerfully headed home from six yards.

Chirnside kicked off the second half and within seconds they had added number three. Neat interplay between Windram and Ponder saw the latter side foot past the Duns keeper leaving him with no chance.

The home team were beginning to dominate now and were using the flanks to good use. They were looking particularly dangerous down the right where Shennan was using his pace to good effect. Number four came on the hour mark when Turner shot home after being played through by Ponder to net his fifteenth goal of the season.

With the home team looking to extend their lead they were caught up the pitch and one of the Duns substitutes slotted home to give the away team some hope. That was quickly wiped out though as two minutes later Super-Sub Lauder was on hand to side foot home a cross from the right.

That was how the game finished as Chirnside extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points.
