Report
Chirnside visited West Barns on Saturday for their second league encounter of the season. This game was the only one in the Division to beat the weather and the pitch looked in good condition despite the heavy overnight frost.
It was the visitors who took the game to the hosts and they created a few half chances in the first 10 minutes with Windram looking sharp up front. West Barns though did create a few opportunities, the most notable of these was when the Centre Midfielder volleyed inches wide from a corner.
However the away side took the lead 20 minutes in when Windram's shot looped over the keeper and into the net. The men in green were now in the ascendancy and Shennan dribbled past two players before shooting into the side netting. The second goal arrived 10 minutes before the break when again Shennan broke down the right and his cross ball was diverted into the net via Turner and the opposition centre half together !
The second half saw the home team see more possession of the ball as it looked as though Chirnside were happy to sit with their 2-0 lead. They could of pulled a goal back but Stobie cleared the ball off the line after a corner on the right. On the hour mark Chirnside introduced Lauder to replace the injured Turner. His movement up front caused the home team problems and it was no surprise that he added the third following up Windram's shot from 18 yards.
The away team should have added number four 15 minutes from time but Shennan somehow managed to miss the ball with the goal at his mercy. West Barns did pull back a consolation goal two minutes from time when the Centre Forward was quickest to react to a shot from 25 yards which Luggett did well to tip on to the bar.
