Report
Chirnside travelled to Berwickshire rivals Duns for the first derby of the season, where as predicted the form book was thrown out he window.
On an icy pitch Duns elected to play down the slope with the slight breeze behind their back. The decision was almost justified when a long ball saw the number 10 run through on goal but the ball managed to carry into the hands of Lugget. The home side were looking more menacing than the men from Chirnside as they continued to press the back four of the paper makers.
Despite the dingers early pressure Chirnside nearly scored when a good run from Shennan saw him blast the ball across the face of goal but no one was able to get the crucial touch to send it net bound.
Duns then had a few long range efforts but nothing that really troubled Lugget or the Chirnside back line and a fairly uneventful first half came to a close
HT 0-0
The second half began with the pitch getting crispier by the minute in the cold conditions and it was apparent within the first 5 minutes that it was going to be a role reversal of the first half. Chirnside were now pressing the Duns back four into their own box but the home side held firm. Duns then had a good chance to score themselves when a through ball was latched on to by the Duns winger but he shot straight at Lugget. Chirnside then changed the personnel up front bring on Windram for Ponder. Then within 5 minutes of this Windram latched on to a rebound from a Turner free kick and slotted the ball home. Chirnside then had some half chances in the remaining ten minutes of the game but they failed to convert.
