Chirnside got back to winning ways after a two draws on the previous two games.

Chirnside began playing into a strong breeze and it was clear from the start of the home sides intent to play the ball on the deck. Good play from Turner resulted in Shennan getting the ball at the back post where he cut inside to shoot but he blasted over from six yards out. Within minutes of his first chance Shennan again got the ball in the exact same position and again after cutting inside he shot but this time he blasted wide from six yards.

Shennan was again the guilty culprit when he met a cross from Young at the back post but his volleyed shot was blocked with a good save by the keeper and from the resulting rebound he blasted into the side netting !

Just when the Chirnside fans thought it wasn't going to be Shennan's day he delightfully chipped the goal keeper from the corner of the 18 yard box after some good play by Turner and Morrison. Chirnside were well on top and on the 15 minute mark it was 2 nil when a rash challenge by the Selkirk defender on Shennan resulted in a penalty which Shennan himself converted to make it 2 nil.

Selkirk then had their first chance of the game when a deflected cross made it to the back post and the Selkirk midfielders diving header was superbly saved by Lugget. Selkirk then had another chance when a misplaced pass by Hume in the Chirnside defence allowed the Selkirk striker to get a shot away but again Lugget saved well.

Chirnside continued to press forward and managed to score again when Windram raced through to score his first of the game, he soon followed this up with his second of the game to make it 4 nil. Shennan then grabbed his hatrick with 5 minutes to go before half time.

HT 5-0

The second half began with Chirnside going straight on the attack and almost immediately Shennan missed a good chance from the edge of the box after a knock down from Morrison.

To Selkirk's credit they did not let the scoreline dampen their commitment and they started to come into the game more and play some good football down the wings. Chirnside did continue cause problems on the quick counter attack and should have done better with Turner and Shennan missing no less than 5 one on ones between them. Chirnside then seemed to take their foot off the gas and Selkirk managed to get two goals back one of which was a O.G by Stobie after a wicked deflection.

Chirnside then got their sixth and final goal of the game when a cross from G.Kelly was dropped by the away teams keeper and Morrison was able to tap in from a yard out.
