Report
The game began with Chirnside kicking with a slight tail wind and they immediately went on the attack and were unlucky 5 minutes in not score when the Peebles keeper saved well from Shennan. Goal scoring chances started to come thick and fast, next up was Young but he saw his left foot drive fizz past the post. Chirnside did finally score on the 20 minute mark when a corner from Young found its way to the back post for Ponder to nod the ball down to Shennan who rifled a left foot drive past the Peebles goalkeeper.
Chirnside expected the flood gates to open now but some poor finishing and good goalkeeping kept the score down with Shennan, Turner, Windram, Ponder and Young all guilty of missing a couple of chances each. The missed chances were making the game very edgy and Lugget in the Chirnside goal had to be alert on a couple of occasions with Peebles creating half chances on the quick counter attack.
HT 0-1
The second half began with Peebles using the wind to their advantage this time. The continued to play counter attacking football, but were struggling to create any real goal scoring opportunities as the Chirnside back line held firm. The Chirnside frontline however continued to make hard work of matters with again Shennan, Turner and Windram being the main culprits of missed chances.
Chirnside then finally got the all important second goal in slightly fortuitous circumstances when a cross from Young was fumbled by the Peebles goal keeper on to the post but Shennan was on hand to make sure the ball was over the line to make it 2 nil.
Peebles again had a couple of half chances to get a goal back but they never really troubled Lugget in the Chirnside goal.
