Report
For the second week running Chirnside suffered a dissapointing result due to poor finishing and lapses in concentration.
Chirnside started brightly and could of been two up in the first 5 minutes
when Turner had two great chances to score but could only watch in agony
as both shots were directly at the keeper. With 10 minutes gone Chirnside
should have scored again when Turner crossed for Cowe but again it was
hit directly at the keeper. The unthinkable then happened on the 15
minute mark when some poor play by Shennan and Hume resulted in the
Langholm Striker squaring the ball to his strike partner to tap the
ball home for a 1 nil lead against the run of play.
Chirnside didn't let their heads go down and immediately went on the
attack but again poor finishing let them down with Shennan twice, Kelly
and Heads all wasting good chances. Chirnside finally got on the score
sheet when Turner picked up a dropped ball from the away teams keeper
and he managed to convert from a tight angle. Chirnside were now well
on top and a second goal soon arrived when Turner blasted home from
close range after a cross from Kelly.
HT 2 - 1
The second half continued with Chirnside doing the majority of the attacking
and they were rewarded when they got there third of the game when a
Shennan cross found Kelly who blasted the ball home. Chirnside were
now cruising but good chances were still being missed the culprits being
Kelly, Shennan, Ponder and Windram.
With ten minutes left Langholm managed to pull a goal back after Lugget
made a hash of a back pass and the Langholm Striker managed to blast
the ball home from close range. With five minutes remaining the unbelieveable
happened when langholm winger managed to score from way out on the touchline
after a sliced cross managed to lob Lugget on his line to make the score
3 all.
Chirnside will need to improve dramtically for nexts weeks local derby
with Duns.
