Chirnside lost out in the Beveridge Cup Final to the the newly crowned league champions Leithen Rovers on Friday night.

The game started out pretty even with no real chances being created by either side. On the 15min mark the first half chance arrived for Chirnside when Turner whipped in a corner from the right which made its way through to the back post where Bolton failed to react quick enough and the danger passed for Leithen Rovers.

Leithen Rovers were now becoming more dangerous on the quick counter attack and there flowing football paid off when they broke down there right flank and managed to cross in for the striker to score leaving Lugget rooted to the spot. Leithen then scored again when a free kick was played in that went straight into the back of the net after a mix in the Chirnside goal mouth. Lugget was then called upon to make some good saves from point blank to keep Chirnside in the game and Turner also hit the bar from a freekick mucj to the dissappointment of the men in green.

The set back from the freekick didn't dampen Chirnsides spirt and they pulled a goal back when another good corner by Turner was met by Morrison who bulleted the header home after losing his marker.

Chirnside now back in the game then lost a goal almost immediately from the restart when again poor defending let them down, to go in at half time 3-1 down.

The second half began much in the same vain as the 1st with Leithen Rovers having a lot of the ball without really creating any real clear cut chances. Chirnside were also struggling to create any chances when they did have the ball but they were looking dangerous from set pieces. Chirnside did manage to pull a goal back with 7 minutes remaining when this time Bolton floated in a freekick which Turner managed to head goal bound and Shennan then managed to steer it into the net.

With this life line Chirnside then managed to push for an equaliser but again Leithen Rovers coped well with anything that Chirnside could throw at them.

Leithen Rovers then secured the win with a penalty in the last minute of injury time to make the final score 4-2.
