Report
Chirnside were hoping to avenge last weekends league defeat when they took on Pencaitland in the Border Cup semi-final at a wind-swept Dunbar on Saturday. The away side welcomed back Logan, Snowball and Ponder to the starting line up and they kicked off playing into the strong wind. Both teams struggled to adapt to the conditions early on and a lot of passes went astray. It was the men in green who took the lead though after 20 minutes when Shennan's attempted shot was met by Turner and he volleyed home with his trusty left foot into the bottom corner of the net.
Pencaitland did have a few chances to equalise but a mixture of good keeping by Lugget and the wood work kept them out. Chirnside set out their stall in the second half and made sure no complacency set in. The second goal came after 60 minutes when the home goalkeeper and centre half collided going for a high ball and G. Kelly was left with the simplest of tasks of rolling the ball into the empty net.
The away side made sure of their progress to the final when Shennan dispatched a right foot shot over the keeper and into the net. They also added a fourth late on when G. Kelly curled the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net. This was a much improved performance from Chirnside and they will look forward to the final where they will meet either West Barns or Ancrum.
