Chirnside made the long journey through to Langholm on Saturday hot on the trail of another three league points. Both teams started well with Chirnside creating a few half chances that were dealt with by the home defence. Langholm's best chance in the first half fell to their nippy centre forward but his attempted chip was well held by debutant keeper Omari.

The deadlock was eventually broken 10 minutes from half-time when a Stobie cross ball was taken in his stride by Shennan and he blasted past the helpless keeper from 12 yards. Chirnside started strongly in the second half and increased their lead with Shennan adding to his earlier strike. The away team were now in full flow and added a third when Bolton's thunderbolt from 20 yards hit the back of the net.

Chirnside were then awarded a penalty when the keeper came rushing off his line and scythed down Garushi Kelly. Shennan completed his hat-trick by confidentally tucking the ball away to the keepers right. Chirnside added a fifth when G.Kelly picked the ball up on the left, stepped inside a defender and smacked an unstoppable drive from 30 yards which left the keeper rooted to the spot.

The home team never really got going in the second half and their defence were caught flat footed on numerous occasions. Shennan added another three well taken goals to his tally to complete his double hat-trick. Langholm added a late consolation when their number 9 wriggled free and sent in a snap shot which Omari parried. The first player to react was the left winger who slotted into an open goal.

This was Chirnside's best performance of the season so far and know that more of the same is required in the coming weeks. Defender Stuart Kelly said: "We were giving Shenco a bit stick in the dressing room after the game. He was wanting 7 goals to equal Peach's all time scoring record but it wasn't to be. He swears on a cigarette before the match and it seems to do the trick!"
