CHIRNSIDE FOOTBALL CLUB - PLAYERS

Here are a list of player profiles of the Chirnside first team.

Stuart Black | Goalkeeper

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Colts, Eyemouth Whitehorse’s, Referees Association.

Kaka returned to the fray after a 7 year absence chasing an egg and plying his trade for the dark side (a referee). The new slim, 30 year old Kaka fitted back into the goal like a glove and is looking to take some silverware back home to the wife.

Stuart Kelly
Stuart Kelly | Goalkeeper, Defender

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Colts

Although living in the bright lights of Edinburgh, Kell can still be called upon when needed and is always a welcome addition to the squad.

John McCutcheon | Defender

Previous Clubs: Kelso U7’s, U10’s, U13’s, U’15’s, U17’s; Kelso Thistle; Kelso United.

Cutch a new signing this season, struggled to breathe to begin with after having never been out off the boundaries of the ancient market town of Kelso before. But once he came to and adjusted to life away from cobbled streets and the sporty he has fitted in well and is already a contender for trainer of the season at the presentation night.

Steven Christie | Defender

Previous Clubs: Ayton Football Club

Probably one of the quietest members of the squad, which is ironic as he likes jumping up and down in the mosh pit listening to punk music in his spare time. Big Stevie is probably the most consistent player in the team and has now started chipping in with a goal or two from set pieces.

Duncan Morrison
Duncan Morrison | Defender, Midfielder

Previous Clubs: Coldstream, Chirnside Colts

Coming to the twighlight years of his career only keeps playing because Jocky needs a drinking partner after the game since Dezy Mac retired. Has now moved back into defence and still loves arguing with Shennan and Stob.

Duncan Morrison

The semi retired Gala man is still available for some action on Saturday when called upon, but seem to enjoying doing the ironing and dishes more these days.

David Lough | Defender

Previous Clubs: Eyemouth Amateurs, Eyemouth United

The evergreen Mr Lough is now in his second season at the club. The old warhorse is still as consistent as ever whether it is running about a football pitch, fixing barriers on the A1 or visiting the bar at the Ship in Eyemouth on a Saturday, he can even show Lazy Eyes Youngy a thing or two.

Jamie Stobie | Defender

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Colts

Not much to say about Stob as he doesn’t say much himself. Give him a VC though and the inner beast is set free.

Steven Shennan
Steven Shennan | Midfielder, Striker

Previous Clubs: More than Jack Nicklaus

The infamous Mr Shennan moans more every year he gets older. For all his moaning he still continues to bang the goals in on a weekly basis. With his lightning quick pace and his lightning quick tongue he has more than enough to baffle opponents and team mates alike.

Andrew Ponder
Andrew Ponder | Midfielder

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Colts

Pondy runs about more on a Saturday than a Jack Russell chasing Brian’s cat. His work rate is second to none, sometimes he runs that much that his legs forget to take the rest of his body with them. On a night out still looks like Dougie Donnelly dressed as a Bee Gee.

Brian Stuart | Midfielder

Previous Clubs: Coldstream

One of the veterans of the team, and if Pondy is the Jack Russell of the team, Bri is the Border terrier. Nipping and biting into every challenge. Despite his on the pitch play Bri proved himself to be the lord of the dance floor after the South Cup win last year, as he tore up the dance floor with some dance moves never before seen by mankind.

Chris Young | Midfielder

Previous Clubs: Ayton, Beriwick Rangers U18’s

Mr Lazy Eyes has reinvented himself this season and taken over from Ponder as the clubs Adonis. He turns up to matches with the diamond studded ear ring, the medallion hanging down the chest and a spray tan that would put Tom Jones to shame, after he has strutted his stuff on the pitch in front of an increasing number of female fans, he heads out to Berwick so everyone can get a piece of the new Mr Lazy Eyes.

Graeme Turner
Jocky Turner | Striker

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Pumas, Chirnside Colts, Eyemouth United.

Jocky Turner has the second biggest hands in Berwickshire, second only to the man who plays bowls for Eyemouth. Despite his hands trailing on the ground he still has the magic in his feet and continues to terrorise all defences he plays against, is a 20 -30 goals a season player.

Jordan Lauder | Striker

Previous Clubs: Coldstream

Jordan is now at the club for his second season. Despite not being the sharpest tool in the box he continues to impress with his razor sharp wit and getting the wrong end of the stick on Pie and Bovril.

Robbie Armstrong | Midfielder, Striker

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Colts, Berwick Rangers U18’s

Robbie is another youngster from the village making his debut in the first team this season. His floating toupee like hair makes him seem a lot older than his 19 years of age. But a quick turn of pace and his crack shots on target ensure he will be around a while yet.

Kevin Strachan | Midfielder

Previous Clubs: Chirnside Colts, Berwick Rangers U18’s

Young Kev joined this year from Berwick Rangers u 18’s. We don’t know what happened at Berwick but he came back unable to tell the time which we found out doing the clock face exercise at pre season training.

Gareth Henderson | Midfielder

Previous Clubs: Gordon, Duns, Coldstream, Kelso United

Gareth another new signing this season from Kelso, however injury has prevented him making his debut for his new club. But once he gets his back sorted out, we are sure to see him back, strutting his stuff in midfield.
