CHIRNSIDE FOOTBALL CLUB - PLAYERS

Here are a list of player profiles of the Chirnside first team.

Johnny Cowe | Goalkeeper

The beast from the east is enjoying his 2nd consecutive season with the first team. Recently has become a dad for the third time and still shows there is plenty of life in the old dog yet.

Jamie Stobie | Defender

Continues to look the oldest man in the team with is badger like hair. His play on the field suggests otherwise, he continues to show the classy touches and turn of pace that still make him one of the best full backs in the league.

Leigh Wood | Defender, Midfielder

Woodel is just returning to top form and fitness, after a long spell out through illness. Despite his gangly appearance he puts in a mean tackle with those spider like legs.

Dod Blaikie (Manager) | Defender

The manager has played more than he would have liked due to squad injuries this season, but his auld bones keep going and is always willing to get his boots dirty.

Stevie Christie | Defender

Probably the quietest man off the pitch but on it still turns out performance after performance. Never lets the side down and is going to be a contender once again come the end of season awards.

Duncan Morrison
Duncan Morrison | Defender, Midfielder

Now one of the veterans of the team at the tender age of 31. His game time has been hampered by injury this season. But he now coming back to fitness and has slotted into the role of sweeper where hopefully he won’t get injured again. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

Craig Dishington | Defender, Midfielder

Another experienced player who’s season was cut short by a bad knee ligament injury after only a few games, hopefully a full recovery will see him once again don a Chirnside shirt.

Ryan Purves | Defender, Midfielder

Podge has just recently moved up from the colts and has fitted in effortlessly. His short frame and bustling style of play have lead to him being nicknamed the tank, or is that because he has hair that resembles the helmet of a tank commander, answers on a postcard.

Greg McCrudden | Defender, Midfielder

Steakbake as he has now been kindly christened, is the youngest member of the squad at the sprightly age of 16. Despite his young age he looks as old as Stob, but don’t be fooled he will be around for a while yet!!

Chris Young | Midfielder - Club Captain

Captain Young is still reeling after he and Lady Frater failed in their attempts to takeover Ayton Castle, instead they opted for the posh end of Chirnside and a couple of dogs. On the football side of things the captain is back playing again after missing three months with a broken foot. The rest the team weren’t sure what was worse, his mumping on the sideline or when he was actually playing!!

Danny Hoyle | Midfielder

Danny “the foreigner” Hoyle has been a recent addition to the squad. Hailing from Stockport and supporting Manchester United, no one has a clue what he is saying. Employed as primary school teacher he has taken to educating the youngsters of Reston and Ayton. Has recently put his teaching skills to good use on the team bus, helping Steakbake with his school homework on away games.

Keir Blaikie | Midfielder

The Ox from Ayton is possibly the most laid back “big fellae” in Berwickshire. His thighs are the same size as Kev Strachan’s chest measurement but on the pitch he shows the touches of a ballet dancer and in the pub he sinks a pint like a blue whale feeding on plankton.

Graham Kelly | Midfielder, Striker

The bulldozer is back! Although his training time is limited due to family commitments, he has been a great addition to the squad and continues to cause no ends of problems for opposing defences.

Kevin Strachan | Midfielder, Winger

This fiery, bandy legged little celt had enjoyed a good start to the season prior to the Christmas break, making the left midfield position his own. However an ankle injury has curbed his game time recently and he is looking to bounce back and regain his spot in the starting 11.

Jack Windram | Winger, Striker

Jack the banker, has been blamed for the banking collapse in Chirnside but still insist on taking his bonus. Shocking! Having said that ratatouille has put in some good performances on the pitch so far this season, but he has taken on the mantle of being a bit of a moaner alongside captain Young.

Aidan Lauder | Striker

Another youngster with pace to burn, in fact he is so fast we had to put a bird net up to catch him at the end of the pitch. Has recently had some lady trouble after he gave a college girl a peck on the cheek and then told his missus. Is he wired up right?? Think he needs some tips from ladies man Stob.

Jocky Turner | Striker

Jocky looked to be regaining his fitness at the start of the season after a full pre – season under his belt, but work commitments put an end to that mid season. However he is now back in full training and is starting to pick up the goal tally again.
